Recently, the Department maintains international scientific relations with relevant educational and scientific institutions of the European countries (Germany, Poland, Bulgaria), United States, Mongolia, Vietnam, Cuba, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and others.

Basic scientific research department aims to:
- Solving the problems of resource and energy efficiency in the production of composites
- Development of new functional composites based on polymer binders and mineral
- Environmental Safety polymer processing industry and sustainable development
Among the most prominent graduates of the department known scholars whose works have gained worldwide fame.
Many graduates of the department occupied and occupy high positions in government, run by industry, making a significant contribution to the establishment of an independent Ukraine.
